Using research to inform policy on HIV and education

In 2011, IIEP, in association with the UNESCO Office in Nairobi and the Kenyan Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, undertook an assessment of the impact of HIV and AIDS on education in Kenya and an analysis of the implementation of the 2004 Kenyan education sector policy on HIV and AIDS. The research provided empirical evidence on how HIV and AIDS have affected the education sector in Kenya, and identified gaps in research and programme interventions.

Sexuality Education for Youth – Key in Preventing the Spread of HIV in Zambia

Sexuality education and the provision of services for adolescents and young people are at the heart of a recently launched national programme, implemented by the Government of Zambia and supported by UNESCO.

Gender Equality and Sexuality Education for Myanmar Migrants in Tak Province

UNESCO Bangkok provided technical support for a Plan Thailand refresher course on gender equality in Tak province, which was attended by 22 staff members and migrant volunteers from the Migrant Assistance Program Foundation (MAP) and Foundation for Education and Development (FED).
