    This policy applies to all people who provide and support learning in schools and senior secondary schools (colleges) and early learning settings including Child and Family Centres, Early Childhood Intervention Services (ECIS) and child care facilities. A systemic drug education and drug management policy is essential to ensure all educational leaders have a consistent approach to providing drug education and managing drug related incidents including the confiscation of licit and illicit drugs.

    The National Drugs Strategy 2001-2008 sets out a detailed programme of action to be implemented by Government Departments and Agencies to combat the very serious problem of drug misuse in our society.   7. Substance use prevention in educational settings in Eastern Europe and Central Asia: a review of policies and practices

    Promoting health and a healthy lifestyle among children and youth is a national priority for all Eastern European and Central Asian countries, and is reflected in their country policies. Schools have an important role to play in health promotion, by preparing children, adolescents and youth for a healthy and safe adulthood. This review of policies and practices provides a brief account of the achievements to date in prevention education (with special focus on drug use prevention), and outlines the challenges still to be addressed.

  8. Drugs guidance for schools in Northern Ireland

    It is a statutory requirement for all schools in Northern Ireland to have a drugs policy and publish details in relation to the policy in their prospectus; deliver drugs education to include legal and illegal substances; and inform the Police Service of Northern Ireland if they believe or suspect a pupil to be in possession of a controlled substance. The guidance has been designed to assist schools in the development, implementation, evaluation, and review of their drugs policy and to support procedures for the management of suspected drug-related incidents and issues.

    This review of the education sector response to HIV, drugs and sexual and reproductive health in Timor- Leste aimed to examine the present policy and programmatic response in the sector, to identify gaps and to propose recommendations to support the response. The review was carried out mainly through the use of desk research and interviews with stakeholders. The objectives of this review are to: - describe and analyse the situation of HIV and AIDS, drugs and sexual health in Brunei Darussalam; - evaluate the status and scope of the education sector’s response to HIV and AIDS, drugs and sexual health; - identify the scope for improvement and prepare a set of recommendations to strengthen the existing response.
