    These guidelines provide a review of the latest information about the HIV and the AIDS as related to maternal and child health/family planning (MCH/FP). The first chapter discusses facts about HIV infection. Chapter 2 reviews some of the important implications of the HIV epidemic for () programmes and chapter 3 discusses the relationship between the various methods of contraception and HIV transmission. Chapter 4 gives an overview of national AIDS prevention programmes. Chapters 5, 6 and 7 deal respectively with the integration of AIDS prevention into (MCH/FP) programmes.

    Cette étude envisage de comprendre l'importance de la sexualité chez les adolescents, l'évolution et les différences de comportement sexuel, les connaissances et attitudes sur la planification familiale et la santé de reproduction et le SIDA, les différences dans l'utilisation des méthodes contraceptives par les adolescentes mariées et les célibataires au cours des 15 dernières années et enfin par les adolescentes mariées et autres femmes mariées. Les résultats de l'étude montrent la complexité, la sensibilité et l'urgence des problèmes qui se posent.

  11. Health seeking behaviour and the control of sexually transmitted disease

    What people do when they have symptoms or suspicion of a sexually transmitted disease (STD) has major implications for transmission and, consequently, for disease control. Delays in seeking and obtaining diagnosis and treatment can allow for continued transmission and the greater probability of adverse sequelae. An understanding of health seeking behaviour is therefore important if STD control programmes are to be effective. However, taboos and stigma related to sex and STD in most cultures mean that gaining a true picture is difficult and requires considerable cultural sensitivity. …
