  3. ASKAIDS: African Sexual Knowledges and HIV/AIDS: ASKAIDS toolkit for consulting pupils

    The ASKAIDS Project involved a research project in Sub-Saharan Africa, focused on understanding how primary age pupils acquire sexual knowledge, in what contexts and how this relates to the HIV education received in schools (phase 1). The second phase produced a set of curriculum development materials in dialogue with local stakeholders.

    For the past 22 years, SIECUS has tracked sexuality education controversies in the United States. In this controversy report, covering the 2014–2015 school year, we highlight trends in sexuality education controversies including the impact that social and digital media are having in the field of sexuality education, allowing for new and alternative forms of sexuality education that is accessible to students, whether through a YouTube video, a smartphone app, or a website.

  5. Integrating reproductive health into youth development programs toolkit

    This toolkit was developed by the International Youth Foundation in order to provide resources for program managers, educators, youth leaders and advocates to incorporate Reproductive Health into programs targeting youth. The toolkit includes a framework, curricula and practical strategies for integrating reproductive health into youth development programming.

  6. Regional accountability framework: ministerial commitment on comprehensive sexuality education and sexual and reproductive health services for adolescents and young people in Eastern and Southern African (ESA)

    The accountability frame work has been developed as a tool to monitor country and regional progress towards the agreed commitments as set out in the ESA Ministerial commitment document. The technical coordinating Group, under the leadership of UNAIDS and with support from SADC and EAC Secretariats will play a key role in the development and implementation of the accountability mechanism. The intended audience for the framework are primarily governments in the 20 countries, civil society partners (including young people and community based organisations) and development partners.

  7. Challenges in providing HIV and sexuality education to learners with disabilities in South Africa: the voice of educators

    People with disabilities are at increased risk of exposure to HIV, yet they lack access to HIV prevention, treatment care and support including sexuality education. Lack of knowledge, skills and confidence of educators teaching sexuality education to learners with disabilities is related to this increased vulnerability. This study identifies possible challenges educators of learners with disabilities face when teaching sexuality and HIV education. …
