This document describes the CAPACITY Project (Central Asian Program on AIDS Control in vulnerable populations), USAID's premier HIV and AIDS project for Central Asia. This project was awarded in September 2004 and was implemented for the five year period ending in September 2009. CAPACITY covered the five former Soviet Central Asian Republics Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, and included four strategic directions. These were: - Improving Stewarship of the National HIV and AIDS Programs in Central Asia; - Educating and Empowering Vulnerable Populations; - Improving Quality of HIV and AIDS Services; - Improving Resource Use through the Integration of HIV and AIDS Services.
