The aim of the consultation was to discuss ways of scaling up the health sector response to the emerging HIV epidemic in MSM and transgender (TG) in the Western Pacific Region. The scope of this consultation was focused on the response of the health sector to HIV. In this context, the health sector is defined as wide-ranging, and encompasses organized public and private health services (including those for health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care); health ministries; nongovernmental organizations (NGOs); community groups; professional organizations; as well as institutions that directly input into the health-care system (e.g. the pharmaceutical industry and teaching institutions).
