This document describes four family and community-centered approaches to caring for and treating HIV-affected children and households, three in Rwanda and one in Kenya. The four projects described all share a common commitment to delivery of care in the community rather than limiting provision of care to health facilities. These projects are: the Academic Model for Prevention and Treatment of HIV/AIDS (AMPATH) in Western Kenya, CARE International's 5x5 Model for Early Childhood Education (ECD) and its Case Manager Pilot Program, both in Rwanda, and Partners in Health - Inshuti Mu Buzima Rwanda program (PIH/IMB).
