The goal of this policy is to prevent HIV infections, to reduce vulnerability to HIV, to improve the provision of treatment, care and support for people living with HIV/AIDS and to mitigate the socio-economic impact of HIV/AIDS on individuals, families, communities and the nation. The objectives are to: 1. Prevent HIV infections, 2. Improve delivery of prevention, treatment, care and support services, 3. Mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS on individuals, the family and communities, 4. Reduce individual and societal vulnerability to HIV/AIDS through the creation of an enabling environment. 5. Strengthen the multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary institutional framework for co-ordination and implementation of HIV/AIDS programmes in the country.
