    The report makes a number of recommendations for action by the government to guarantee girls’ right to health, including access to sexual and reproductive health information and services, and in particular post rape services. It also calls for further action to eradicate violence against girls, to protect girls at risk, and enforce laws against perpetrators of sexual violence.

    This publication documents the forced pregnancy testing and expulsion of pregnant school girls in mainland Tanzania. Launched in 2013 and based on in-depth interviews with young women who have undergone these practices, as well as teachers, government officials, and health care providers, this report provides concrete evidence and compelling stories of the numerous human rights violations many Tanzanian girls face in the pursuit of education.   3. The impact of homophobic and transphobic bullying on education and employment

    In February 2013, the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Youth and Student Organisation (IGLYO) commissioned Eleanor Formby from Sheffield Hallam University (in the UK) to carry out research on the impact of homophobic and transphobic bullying on education and employment in Europe. An online survey used, specifically targeted at a range of countries: Croatia, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, and Poland. The research extends existing literature that often focuses on impacts on mental health and emotional wellbeing. …

    The report is a part of series of comprehensive qualitative studies conducted by the UNDP Regional Centre for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in selected countries.   9. Supporting the educational needs of HIV-positive learners: lessons from Namibia and Tanzania

    This report is a commissioned review of best practice as well as an exploratory study in two countries, Namibia and Tanzania, to understand how the education sector should support HIV-positive learners at school. The increase in the number of children and young people living with HIV poses new challenges to the education sector. The report identifies the specific challenges faced by the education system in responding to the needs of HIV-positive learners and develops a set of recommendations and guidelines about how best to support them.

  11. HIV/AIDS and education in Jamaica: Is the HIV epidemic affecting the supply of educators and the demand for education in Jamaica? Barriers to integration of HIV/AIDS infected/affected children into the Jamaican school system.

    Research undertaken with UNESCO support by Professor Wilma Bailey and Dr. Affette McCaw-Binns of the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, on issues related to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Jamaica and the education system was completed at the end of 2004.Themes investigated were: Barriers to the integration of HIV/AIDS infected/affected children into the Jamaican school system; The HIV epidemic: is it affecting the supply of educators and the demand for education in Jamaica?
