They lack proper knowledge about their own or their partners' sexuality, communicate very little about sex in their relationships, and believe in numerous sexual myths. In Bangladesh, youth aged 15-24 years represent approximately one-sixth (23 million) of the total population. …

  3. An HIV epidemic is ready to emerge in the Philippines

The number of diagnoses is increasing, particularly due to homosexual and bisexual contact; there are low condom-use rates; and the age at diagnosis is decreasing. The underlying cause of these symptoms needs to be addressed in order to prevent an emergent epidemic.

Foreword. The AIDS epidemic is perhaps the most destructive force on the planet today. It has already caused more casualties than all of the armed conflicts in recent decades. It infects and affects families, communities, and organizations in every region of the world. 11. Health, wealth, AIDS and poverty - the case of Cambodia

This paper explores the nature of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Cambodia, its impact on the country's development and its effect on the 40 percent of Cambodians who live below the poverty line. It views AIDS within a wider health context, and explores the socio-economic factors that underlie both the epidemic's development and the shape of the country's response. Finally, it examines Cambodia's options going forward, arguing that future responses will be needed along three tracks - those specific to AIDS; those specific to health; and those with a broad development focus.
