    This document updates the 2003 United Nations Joint Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) Inter-Agency Task Team (IATT) on Education publication, HIV/AIDS and Education: A Strategic Approach. It presents a strategic vision of the important role that education must play in addressing HIV, identifies key priorities for responding to HIV and AIDS through education, puts forward two central objectives for education responses, and outlines how the response should be tailored to the local epidemiological situation and other factors.

  3. AIDS: what young people think about it; educational practices and policies

    This publication is the result of the project funded by the UNAIDS Young People Commitment and CO-Responsibility in Preventing the Spread of HIV and AIDS. The primary objective is to include the perceptions of youth in the formulation and implementation of HIV and AIDS policies, thereby enhancing the involvement of youth in the containment of the epidemic. It is therefore intended to raise awareness by promoting strategies to respond to the HIV and AIDS epidemic, taking into account the participation of youth in the policy-making process and the implementation of preventive efforts.

  5. Evaluation of preventive actions against STDs/AIDS and drug abuse in elementary and high schools in Brazilian capitals

    This document presents an evaluation of the process, results and impact of the initiative to promote health and prevent sexually transmitted diseases among adolescents and youth in the school environment (in Brazilian schools), on the basis of research carried out in 340 schools in 14 state capitals. Students, teachers, principals and parents were included in the survey. Its contents include: 1) The national policy and the Brazilian STDs/AIDS preventive program; 2) Process evaluation; 3) Evaluation of the results; 4) Impact evaluation; 5) Conclusions; 6) Bibliography.
