    The term 'Men who have sex with men' frequently shortened to MSM - describes a behaviour rather than a specific group of people. It includes self-identified gay, bisexual, or heterosexual men, many of whom may not consider themselves gay or bisexual including transgender populations. MSM presents a topic that many governments and certain individuals would prefer not to talk about and choose to be silent on these issues, failing to acknowledge these behaviours and address them, which unfortunately helps the HIV and AIDS epidemic to grow. …

  11. Bulgaria National HIV/AIDS response. Experience from a new EU Member State (2001-2007)

    Bulgaria is still a country with low HIV prevalence in the general population. However, the country faces a great challenge related to the possibility of rapid development of concentrated epidemics in separate group identified as most-at-risk (mainly among injecting drug users, men who have sex with men and sex workers). There are already epidemiological and behavioural indications. The risk is also related to the possible increase of HIV cases among other social groups, where the main mode of transmission is the heterosexual one, and where a generalized epidemic can develop. …
