  9. Skills-based HIV and AIDS/STD prevention in schools in Vietnam

    This project was the main component of the UNICEF-assisted HIV and AIDS prevention project of the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) that began in 1997. It trained teachers in skills-based health education (also called 'life skills') for HIV and AIDS and other STD prevention, and supported them to implement the new approach in the classroom. Skills-based HIV and AIDS/STD related lessons were developed for grades 1-12 and integrated into the existing curriculum.     The State of Maharashtra has initiated AIDS education in public and private schools through three pilot projects.   14. Schools HIV/AIDS resource pack

    This HIV/AIDS resource pack consists of basic information about HIV and AIDS, followed by eight activities for use in the classroom. The pack was produced for teachers as part of a training course to become AIDS awareness educators in their schools. It is intended for teachers although community health workers and educators would be able to adapt the activities for their work. The simple and clear language makes this resource easily accessible to non-specialists. This pack is divided into two sections: 1) Basic information on HIV and AIDS; 2) Classroom activities.
