  1. Teacher’s guide for sexual and reproductive health life skills for adolescents

    UNESCO in partnership with Ministry of Education and with financial support from the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, community and Civil society organizations implemented a two year Health Literacy and Behaviour Change practices among Adolescent Girls pilot project from September 2014-September 2017 in 41 schools. Health literacy materials were evaluated and approved by Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (K.I.C.D.) for use in other informal settlements. This teachers' guide explains how other materials approved by K.I.C.D. can be used in the classroom.

    This report presents the findings of an evidence gap map that assesses the evidence available on the effects of adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) programming in low- and middle-income countries. It documents the methods used to create the map and examines evidence clusters and gaps identified in it. While there is considerable amount of impact evaluation evidence, it addresses only some of the priority questions within this broad topic.     The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Office of the Pacific States commissioned an attitudinal survey on the delivery of Sexual and Reproductive Health (including HIV) education in schools in four Pacific Island Countries: Nauru, Niue, Palau and Samoa. This study involved 261 primary and secondary school teachers in the four countries from both government and faith-based schools.   15. Sexual and reproductive health and rights: implications for comprehensive sex education among young people in Uganda

    This paper presents the findings from an explorative study comparing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) against local realities for young people in Uganda. This was done by analysing statements by Ugandan adolescents extracted from focus group discussions relating to two SRHRs central in this research: (1) the right of young people to complete and accurate information; and (2) the right to self determination. We found discrepancies between these universally formulated rights and the (political, economic and community) context young Ugandans live in. …
