The results indicate that being a bully or a bully-victim increases the probability of being a low performing student. For the case of victims, our results suggest a heterogeneity according students’ ability, decreasing academic achievement for students with below average ability, but increasing it for very high achieving students. 9. Descripción de los conocimientos, actitudes, susceptibilidad y autoeficacia frente al VIH/SIDA en un grupo de adolescentes colombianos

The objective of this research is to describe and compare correct knowledge, incorrect ideas, attitudes, susceptibility and self-efficacy in cases of HIV/AIDS in a group of Colombian adolescents. The sample consists of 222 adolescents of both sexes between the ages of 10 and 18. (Average 14.10 and a typical deviation of 1.925), who belong to a public institution in the city of Cali. This is descriptive correlational research (Montero and León, 2005). The information was gathered by the application of the Colombian adaptation of the HIV-65 scale (Bermúdez, Buela-Casal and Uribe (2005), which measures knowledge, attitudes, susceptibility, and self-efficacy in cases of HIV/AIDS. The results show that the scale obtaining the highest score is that of incorrect knowledge, which suggests that there are still erroneous and mythical concepts about HIV/AIDS. Adolescence is a time when gender disparities between boys and girls become more pronounced. While many boys stay focused on school, girls often have more responsibilities at home. At their most recent annual meeting, the Interagency Youth Working Group focused on protecting and empowering adolescent girls. …
