Sexual and Reproductive health has historically mainly been concerned with population control and restricting the behaviour of women. When men don’t share the responsibilities or benefits and burdens of sexual and reproductive health, women bear the majority of the responsibility for their own and their families’ sexual and reproductive health. This approach exacerbates gender inequalities and leads to poor health outcomes. We developed and evaluated a military-focused HIV prevention intervention to enhance HIV riskreduction knowledge, motivation, and behaviors among Angolan soldiers. Twelve bases were randomly assigned to HIV prevention or control conditions, yielding 568 participants. HIV prevention participants received training in preventing HIV (4.5 days) and malaria (0.5 days). Control participants received the reverse. This report summarizes multi-country findings from the International Men and Gender Equality Survey (IMAGES), a comprehensive household questionnaire on men's attitudes and practices - along with women's opinions and reports of men's practices - on a wide variety of topics related to gender equality. From 2009 to 2010, household surveys were administered to more than 8,000 men and 3,500 women ages 18 to 59 in Brazil, Chile, Croatia, India, Mexico and Rwanda. …
