The goal of the Caribbean Cooperation in Health is to improve health and wellbeing, develop the productive potential of the people, and the competitive advantage of the region. This framework is a response to the commitments made by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Heads of Government in regional and international declarations and policy guidelines. This framework represents a comprehensive helath and development strategy for the region.
This "Health and Family Life Education" curriculum was developed by Gerard Drakes, Mavis Fuller, Christopher Graham and Barbara Jenkins, in coordination with a number of different official partners of Caribbean countries, as well as UNICEF, UNESCO and the Education Development Center Inc (EDC). The main goal of the manual is to provide teachers with the knowledge and competences to conduct HIV education lesson in the classroom at the primary and secondary level and to make available important resources for the lesson delivery. The document represents a three-day module with a focus on the themes of Interpersonal Relationships and Sexuality and Sexual Health. HIV and AIDS are introduced within Sexuality theme.
