    Soul City, a multi-media health project in South Africa has been effective in imparting much needed information on health and development, and in changing attitudes and behaviour as well. Soul City works primarily within South Africa but the TV programme has been shown in a number of African countries as well. In the last two years Soul City has worked on a sponsored education booklet called Choose Life, aimed at 12-16 year olds in Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland and Namibia. 1,331,000 copies of the booklet will be printed and distributed in the four countries in seven different languages. …

  3. Children's access to information on behaviour change, sexuality and reproductive rights: a myth or reality

    The overall objective of this baseline survey was to help determine access to information on 1) HIV and AIDS prevention; 2) sexuality and 3) reproductive rights for in-school childre. The specific objectives were to: document existing behaviour change communication (BCC) materials and programs for children; document the BCC methods to children including the packaging of information and dissemination; establish the relevance of BCC materials to children; compile empirical evidence on the impact of BCC materials on children in Swaziland.

  4. Bantwana schools integrated program (BSIP) child profiling report

    The Bantwana Initiative for Orphans and Vulnerable Children, an initiative supported by World Education, Inc. and John Snow, Inc. (JSI), helps communities expand and increase the quality of comprehensive services for orphans and other vulnerable children - and their households - in the communities where they live. The Bantwana Initiative, in collaboration with researchers from Harvard University, developed the child profiling tool to gather information on the impact of the Bantwana School Integrated Program (BSIP) at the level of the child. …

  5. Assessment of Curriculum Response in 35 countries for the EFA Monitoring Report 2005 "The Quality Imperative"

  6. Swaziland HIV prevention response and modes of transmission analysis

    NERCHA (National Emergency Response Council on HIV/AIDS), MOHSW (Ministry of Health and Social Welfare), UNAIDS and GAMET/World Bank are collaborating in a capacity development process to support an evidence based review of Swaziland's epidemiological situation (Know Your Epidemic, KYE) and the national HIV prevention response (Know Your Response, KYR). The process for the KYE was an in-depth review of available epidemiological data from Swaziland and the sub-region, and application of the UNAIDS incidence estimation model. …
