  1. HIV-related knowledge and stigma among high school students in Libya

    This study aims to measure indicators of HIV-related stigma among students of high schools in the North West of Libya. The results will be part of baseline data and evaluation of the impact of successive interventions. Understanding the behaviour of risk groups in a society, such as young people, is essential in order to draw effective prevention strategies.   2. HIV/AIDS-Related Knowledge and Attitudes of Palestinian Women in the Occupied Palestinian Territory

    This document tries to explore Palestinian women's knowledge, perceptions, and attitudes towards HIV/ AIDS. Methods: Data used in this study were collected as a part of the Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) 2004 in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT). Results: Most of the women in the OPT (93.4%) had heard of AIDS. They had fair general knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention methods and transmission. TV was the main source of information about HIV/AIDS. Among the determinants of HIV/AIDS knowledge identified by this study were education, region, and locality. …

  3. Reproductive rights, advocacy and changing the law

    This issue of journal is about reproductive rights, advocacy and changing the law. Papers on abortion cover the role of political parties and political process in changing the law, the role of feminists and doctors in efforts to get hospitals in the context of restrictive law, and efforts to get nurses and other health workers to confront their own prejudices against abortion in order to make service provision women-centred. Two papers delve into the meaning of reproductive health and rights and the role of advocacy in implementing changes in reproductive health law, policies and services.
