    In sub-Saharan Africa, home to two-thirds of all people living with HIV, 60% are now women. In some regions, women account for increasing percentages of all infections, especially young women (aged 15 to 24), who are particularly vulnerable.     This report from the Open society initiative for Southern Africa and the Centre for AIDS Development Research and Evaluation examines the AIDS funding environment through a civil society lens. It presents and discusses findings from a six-country study access to AIDS funding by civil society organisations (CSOs) in southern Africa. The study draws upon data from 439 CSO conducting AIDS response activities as well as community case studies and interviews with a selection of donor institutions in Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland and Zambia. It focuses on the period 2001 to 2005.
