    The Sexual Health Strategy identifies the media as a means to communicate on sexual health in an effective and responsible way. Evidence shows that the media is a useful means to provide information to the general public. The type of media used will depend on the identified target audience. Unbalanced or inaccurate media messages can lead to pressures and confusion over the realities of sex and sexuality particularly for young people.     This report, commissioned by the Gesellschaft für International Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), brings out findings of an external assessment of the Youth-to-Youth (Y2Y) Initiative in Ethiopia and Kenya.   9. The gender guide for health communication programs

    A tool designed to encourage the incorporation of gender-based roles and responsibilities in the design, implementation, and evaluation of health communication programmes. The guide provides keys questions to help programme managers determine how gender roles for both women and men, may impede access to health information, restrict use of health services, or limit beneficial health outcomes. By identifying this information, health communication programmes can encourage individuals and communities to pay attention to resolving gender inequities.

    A two-week, 15 session curriculum that uses participatory methodologies to equip NGOs to implement reproductive health programmes and strategies. The workshop familiarizes participants with the ICPD Programme of Action and framework of reproductive health, helps participants identify how their organizations' programmes fit within this broadened reproductive health framework, and assists participants to develop strategies and action plans for expanding and integrating organizational activities in the area of gender, reproductive health and/or advocacy.

  12. Changing the picture: youth, gender and HIV/AIDS prevention campaigns in South Africa

    This document points out the apparent connection between gender-based violence and the high incidence of AIDS. Although it is difficult to obtain completely accurate data, there are many cases of pregnancies, STDs and HIV/AIDS in schools and among young women. There is a danger of prevention programme campaigns targeting youth that presuppose an equality between the sexes.
