  2. Parent-teen communication about sex in urban Thai families

    This study describes sexual communication among Thai parents and their teens and identifies variables related to communication about sex in urban Thai families. Data were derived from 420 families whose teenage children ages 13-14 years were randomly selected using the probability proportional to size technique. Interviews were conducted with 1 parent and 1 teenage child in each family. In-depth interviews were also conducted in 30 parents and teens drawn from the same 420 families. …

  3. Evaluation of the epidemiological impact of harm reduction programs on HIV in Vietnam

    This impact assessment study aims to examine coverage of harm reduction interventions in Vietnam among injecting drug users and female sex workers from 2004-2009 and to understand the HIV transmission dynamics in Vietnam and to estimate the extent to which harm reduction interventions among core groups have contributed towards epidemiological trends and reduced HIV transmission in Vietnam during the 2004-2009 strategy.

  4. Youth Visioning for Island Living final reporting on HIV/AIDS awareness in Papua New Guinea (PNG)

    We decided to implement this project here in our province (Western Highlands Province, WHP) among 30 institutions due to the fact that there is no decrease to the spread of HIV/AIDS here. HIV/AIDS is on the rise here (PNG) amongst young people. Many young people including schooling teenagers have died of HIV/AIDS. It involves teachers as well, among many who are dying daily in the Province and the country as a whole. Another factor is that HIV/AIDS is highly spreading here in PNG especially among young people. …

    This is a guide for HIV-positive people who are considering speaking out in person, to any group of people about their experience of living with HIV. It quotes 76 HIV-positive speakers from Asia, the Pacific, Australia and Africa and presents the reasons, benefits and negative consequences of speaking out in public. The social, legal and financial aspects of the support needed by an HIV-positive person before going public are considered. The practical skills and steps for public speaking are discussed.
