  4. Prevalence and correlates of sexual risk behaviors among Jamaican adolescents

    Despite high levels of sexual activity and risk behaviors among Jamaican youth, few population-based studies have examined their prevalence or correlates. The prevalence of three sexual risk behaviors was assessed using data from the 2008-2009 Jamaican Reproductive Health Survey on a subsample of adolescents aged 15-19 who neither were in a union nor had a child. Factors associated with the risk behaviors were examined separately for females and males, using bivariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression. …

  6. HIV and AIDS and higher education in Africa: a review of best practice models and trends

    This study, commissioned by the Association of African Universities, was conducted to identify the strengths, constraints and opportunities for addressing the human resource and policy challenges occassioned by the HIV and AIDS pandemic. A sample of between 12 and 15 institutions which exemplified best practices in the response to HIV and AIDS in Africa was identified. In documenting and disseminating these examples, it is hoped that other institutions will benefit from the sharing of new knowledge and contribute to the overall strengthening of the response to the epidemic. …

    The purpose of the study was to provide information on the gendered and sexual identities of boys and girls, the influence of these identities on their sexual behaviour, and the status of HIV/AIDS education and life skills materials in Kenya's primary schools.   9. Survey on health seeking behaviour of women working in the entertainment sector in Phnom Penh

    The report on a research study to explore the situation of these indirect sex workers, their needs for STI services and possible barriers to accessing STI services conducted by Pharmaciens sans Frontieres. The study revealed that young women working in karaoke parlours and night-clubs were less likely to be aware of STIs and had limited access to STI treatment services. Some were aware about the transmission and prevention of HIV infection and the use of condom as an effective means of preventing HIV, STIs and pregnancy.   10. A compilation of baseline data to assess the needs of young people in Cambodia

    The compilation contains baseline data gathered by the Cambodia Health Education Media Service (CHEMS). It contains the result and analysis of survey on knowledge, attitude, beliefs and practices of youth in four areas in Cambodia. The survey covers demographic information, audience profile, including listening habits and programme preference, general health information, including disease profile, health services and reproductive and sexual health and social life skills issues.
