BACKGROUND: Over a third of new HIV infections globally are among 15-24 year-olds and over 20% among adolescents aged 10-19 years in Asia Pacific. The review was initiated to identify interventions in the region with demonstrated or potential impact for adolescent and young key populations (YKP) looking at the role of individual and structural factors in accessibility and delivery. Young male university students who have sex with men are at high risk of HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The authors conducted a cross-sectional survey to assess the prevalence of risky sexual behaviors, HIV, and syphilis among male university students who have sex with men in Beijing, China; and to identify risk factors for unprotected anal intercourse (UAI). Among 157 study participants, HIV and syphilis prevalence were 2.5% and 7.0%, respectively. The authors found a high prevalence of UAI in the study population. …
Cambodia's Most at Risk Young People Survey (MARYPS) 2010 is a follow up survey of the Youth Risk Behavior Survey conducted in 2004. The survey provides the policymakers and planners with data on alcohol, drug and sex related behaviors and utilization of sexual and reproductive health services among MARYP. This survey is jointly supported by FHI, PSI, UNAIDS, UNESCO, UNFPA, UNICEF and WHO.

The Baseline Survey 2004 was carried out as a part of the evaluation and monitoring of the Prevention of HIV/AIDS among Migrant Workers in Thailand (PHAMIT) project. It has provided a comprehensive overview of migrant populations and their related circumstances and behaviour. This survey was conducted during April-June 2004, and covered 3,426 male and female migrant workers from Myanmar, Cambodia and Lao People's Democratic Republic. Among other things, the survey finds that the prevalence of casual sexual relationship is very high among migrants. …
Working through non-traditional providers, PRIME II built on a successful STI/HIV prevention project in the Philippines to improve contraceptive use among youth engaging in high-risk behaviours. Youth exposed to the intervention were significantly more likely to report using condoms and other contraceptive methods during high-risk behaviours than those who were not exposed.
The Thai Ministry of Education, the Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH), and the Horizons Program embarked on a study to examine the outcomes of a school-based HIV/AIDS programme called "Teens on Smart Sex" for Thai college students.
