    This report summarises the findings of an evaluation, of Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) in post-primary schools in Northern Ireland (NI) by the Education and Training Inspectorate (Inspectorate). The objectives of the evaluation were to: evaluate the quality of the provision for RSE within schools; report on the quality of the provision for staff training for RSE; record examples of good practice; and identify areas for development within RSE.

    Over the past two decades, sexual citizenship has emerged as a new form of citizenship coupled with increased interest in the challenges to citizenship and social justice faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people and, in particular, by sexual minority youth within education systems.   5. A life-skills-based HIV/AIDS prevention education for rural students of primary schools in China: What changed? What have we learned?

    Objective: To evaluate a four-hour life-skills-based HIV/AIDS prevention curriculum among 5th grade students in rural primary schools of Hainan province. Methods: The study included two stages. Stage one (September 2006-May 2007) was a pre-post-quasi experimental design; a total of 2 413 students aged 9 to 14 years from fifth grade classes of nine primary schools completed a baseline survey (1 720 students were in the intervention group, 693 in the control group), and over 98% of them took part in a short survey.   7. Process evaluation of a school-based HIV/AIDS intervention in South Africa

    This paper presents a process evaluation that assessed the fidelity and quality of implementation, as well as the acceptability and subjective evaluations of a HIV/AIDS intervention among students and teachers. Methods: The process evaluation was conducted as part of a cluster randomized controlled trial of a theory- and evidence-based school HIV/AIDS intervention in Cape Town. The intervention was designed for grade 8 high school students and delivered by teachers over a six-month period.   9. Systematic review of effectiveness of school-based sexual health interventions to prevent STI/HIV in sub-Saharan Africa

  12. Evaluation of knowledge level of pupils of 10th-11th classes on the pilot school course "Basics of Healthy Lifestyle and Family": A base line study

    The UNESCO Office in Tashkent is implementing a project on the promotion of preventive education against HIV/AIDS in Uzbekistan. Within the framework of this project they have assisted the Ministry of Public Education in developing a curriculum and a teacher training manual for a newly introduced compulosry subject called, "Healthy lifestyles and family" which includes topics such as HIV/AIDS and its prevention. This base line study has been planned to assess the effectiveness of this project.
