    Stonewall released its fifth annual Education Equality Index at the Education for All Conference on Friday 10 July 2015. The Index is a comprehensive benchmarking exercise for local authorities from across the country, showcasing how well they are celebrating difference, tackling homophobia and biphobia in schools and supporting LGBT young people in their local communities.

    While developments have been made concerning the understanding of general bullying behaviour in Irish schools, considerably less is known about homophobic bullying. Presented here are the findings of a study into the views and perspectives of a self-selected sample of 123 lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered (LGBT) secondary school-aged young people in Ireland. Findings highlight the extent to which such students experience name calling, teasing and bullying in their everyday lives. …

    The introduction of LGBT issues in schools is not the most obvious theme for schools. In most schools, sexuality in general and LGBT issues specifically are taboo and in many cases even forbidden. This kit aims to provide tools to help schools, school support institutions and LGBT activist organizations to deal with this subject.   4. Stonewall education equality index 2011: preventing and tackling homophobic bullying in Britain's schools

    Invitations were extended to the 149 English local authorities and the 32 Scottish local authorities to participate in Stonewall's first Education Equality Index on preventing and tackling homophobic bullying in Britain's schools. 35 leading local authorities from across England and Scotland entered, making it a highly competitive benchmarking exercise. Together they cover over 6,000 primary, secondary and special schools. …
