  3. HIV/AIDS education: what African youth say is effective

    This study on HIV/AIDS-education programs was conducted with the Uganda Ministry of Education and Sports in a national sample of 76 secondary schools in Uganda. Participants included secondary students (N = 883) who critiqued their formal and informal school curricula and offered youth perspectives regarding what teaching mediums and programs of HIV/AIDS prevention are most effective.   4. Training of Trainers Manual

    The Training of Trainers Manual is a training curriculum developed under the Youth Peer initiative through a partnership with UNFPA and Family Health International (FHI)/Youth Net, in 2005. It provides a comprehensive training programme that can be used by "master" level peer educators and trainers. The manual uses participatory techniques based on a variety of theoretical frameworks to ensure that future trainers of peer educators are skilled and confident in their abilities to train peer educators and serve as informed resources for their peers. …

  7. HIV and AIDS and higher education in Africa: a review of best practice models and trends

    This study, commissioned by the Association of African Universities, was conducted to identify the strengths, constraints and opportunities for addressing the human resource and policy challenges occassioned by the HIV and AIDS pandemic. A sample of between 12 and 15 institutions which exemplified best practices in the response to HIV and AIDS in Africa was identified. In documenting and disseminating these examples, it is hoped that other institutions will benefit from the sharing of new knowledge and contribute to the overall strengthening of the response to the epidemic. …
