    Soul City, a multi-media health project in South Africa has been effective in imparting much needed information on health and development, and in changing attitudes and behaviour as well. Soul City works primarily within South Africa but the TV programme has been shown in a number of African countries as well. In the last two years Soul City has worked on a sponsored education booklet called Choose Life, aimed at 12-16 year olds in Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland and Namibia. 1,331,000 copies of the booklet will be printed and distributed in the four countries in seven different languages. …

    The three-day Workshop was a follow-up of the international workshop held in Nairobi, Kenya in April 2006. It brought together sixty three Deans of Faculties of Science and Engineering and Coordinators of AIDS Control Units (ACU) from eleven Kenyan public and Private universities. The aim of the workshop was to identify specific entry points for mainstreaming HIV and AIDS into Engineering, Physical and Biological Sciences as a way of enhancing prevention efforts for HIV and AIDS and responding to its impact. …

  3. Mainstreaming HIV/AIDS into the university curricular: overall evaluation report for universities in Ghana, Rwanda, Botswana and Kenya

    In 2006 and 2007, UNESCO and AWSE jointly organised a training of trainers workshop for universities in Ghana, Rwanda, Botswana and Kenya. The primary objective of the workshop was to provide training for lecturers in engineering, mathematics, chemistry, biological ad physical sciences on how to mainstream and integrate HIV and AIDS into the engineering and science courses and also prepare them as trainers of trainers in the respective faculties and the institution as a whole. …
