This paper's focuses on areas of relatively poorly addressed or understood aspects of young people's sexual and reproductive health. The authors propose to argue for the need to supplement our knowledge and programmatic interventions with regard to three specific issues related to young people's lives that need attention: (a) an overlooked sub-population of married adolescent girls; (b) an overlooked behavior of sex without consent; (c) programmatic interventions that work (or do not) in enhancing young people's health and development.

The study investigates HIV/AIDS as a development challenge in South Africa. The aims of this study were to: a) Identify the strength and weaknesses of the youth organisations' HIV/AIDS interventions b) To assess the link that exists between youth organisations and developmental initiatives by government in KwaZulu-Natal. c) To assist KwaZulu-Natal youth organisations to develop coherent interventionist strategies to deal with the pandemic. d) To identify appropriate links to be made between youth organisations and civil society organisations on, specifically on HIV/AIDS related issues.
Although HIV/AIDS pandemic is a global disaster, countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Great Lakes Countries in particular have been disproportionately burdened in various ways.
