  1. LGBT action plan 2018: improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people

    With over 75 commitments, the cross-Government plan sets out how the Government will improve the lives of LGBT people. Some of the key actions include: Appointing a national LGBT health adviser to provide leadership on reducing the health inequalities that LGBT people face; Extending the anti-homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying programme in schools; Bringing forward proposals to end the practice of conversion therapy in the UK; and Taking further action on LGBT hate crime – improving the recording and reporting of, and police response to, hate crime.

This guide is intended for governors, school staff or other professionals who want to prevent or challenge homophobic bullying in secondary schools.   4. Left out of the equation: a report on the experiences of lesbian, gay and bisexual young people at school

    This report assesses the barriers which young LGB people routinely face in school. These include: homophobic bullying, school staff not adequately trained to tackle homophobia, a curriculum which does not recognise the existence of LGB young people and education structures which place all power and authority with unaccountable Boards of Governors.

    Every child in every school has the right to learn free from the fear of bullying, whatever form that bullying may take. Everyone involved in a child's education needs to work together to ensure that this is the case. Schools need to take an active approach to tackling all forms of bullying, including homophobic bullying.   6. Stonewall education equality index 2011: preventing and tackling homophobic bullying in Britain's schools

    Invitations were extended to the 149 English local authorities and the 32 Scottish local authorities to participate in Stonewall's first Education Equality Index on preventing and tackling homophobic bullying in Britain's schools. 35 leading local authorities from across England and Scotland entered, making it a highly competitive benchmarking exercise.
