    In 2005, the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women, with support from Johnson & Johnson, opened a special funding window for the 2005-2008 programming period to address the intersection of violence against women and HIV/AIDS. Through this funding window, the UN Trust Fund made grants to a unique cohort of grantees in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean to support programmes aimed at reducing violence against women and its consequent risks for HIV/AIDS as well as to reduce the violence, stigma, and discrimination that women living with HIV/AIDS face. …

  2. An action guide for gender equality in national HIV plans: catalyzing change through evidence-based advocacy

    A growing body of evidence links HIV risk with women's social and economic inequality, male norms that drive sexual risk, and the social marginalization of individuals whose sexual identity or behavior is perceived to fall outside accepted norms. In recognition of this, many international donor agencies are funding programs that aim to reduce gender inequality as a driver of the epidemic. HIV service providers are already responding with innovative and often courageous strategies for overcoming gender-based drivers of the epidemic. But more is needed at the national level. …

  3. Gender education in Tel Aviv

    The Education Committee for Tel Aviv decided to roll out a new educational criteria in the cities schools educating on sexual identity and acknowledging of the homosexual and lesbian groups in an attempt to prevent homophobia. The upcoming school year will begin a pilot of 10 schools, which will include working with consultants, teachers, administrators and with students.

    This report introduces current knowledge on the particular situation that Vietnamese women face with regard to HIV. Women are a critical population within the epidemic, not only in terms of sheer numbers, but as this report emphasizes, in terms of the disproportionate toll that HIV can take on their lives.   6. National gender policy plan on HIV and AIDS 2006-2010

    Papua New Guinea's National Strategic Plan on HIV/AIDS 2006-2010 (NSP) recognised that gender is a key factor shaping both the epidemic and the national response to it. To ensure that the gender dimensions of the epidemic receive sufficient attention, the National AIDS Council (NAC) commissioned this National Gender Policy and Plan on HIV and AIDS (NGP).
