This is a model Law on HIV in Southern Africa, made by members of SADC Parliamentary Forum. It is a guide to legislative efforts on HIV-related issues in Southern Africa. It aims to provide a legal framework for the review and reform of national legislation related to HIV in conformity with international human rights law standards; and to promote the implementation of effective prevention, treatment, care and research strategies and programmes on HIV and AIDS.

  2. HIV/AIDS and Human Rights in Nigeria. Background Paper for HIV/AIDS Policy Review in Nigeria

The paper provides in-depth information on the inextricable relationship between HIV/AIDS and human rights, including issues relating to testing, confidentiality, access to treatment/drugs, gender, the workplace, health worker/patient interaction and HIV/AIDS in the family and community and among vulnerable populations such as prisoners and sex workers. It draws extensively from material prepared by UNAIDS and the United Nations Centre for Human Rights (UNCHR), and the International Guidelines on Human Rights.
