    La publicación ha sido elaborada como parte del proyecto “Educación y Respeto para la prevención y atención del bullying homofóbico y transfóbico de las instituciones educativas”, con apoyo del Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Ciencia de los Países Bajos. Este documento considera un abordaje amplio de los tipos de violencia escolar que afectan la región, sobre todo la violencia homofóbica y transfóbica. Asimismo, presenta instrumentos para un mejor desarrollo y seguridad de los estudiantes, garantizando así el goce de sus derechos, especialmente el derecho a la educación.

    À partir de résultats tirés d’une enquête par questionnaire auprès de 2747 élèves de l’école secondaire québécoise et d’entrevues auprès de jeunes s’identifiant comme lesbiennes, gais, bisexuel(le)s ou en questionnement (LGBQ) ou comme trans, cet article propose une réflexion sur les violences prenant pour cible l’expression de genre à l’école. Plus du tiers des élèves s’identifiant comme hétérosexuels rapportent avoir été victimes de violences parce qu’on pense qu’ils sont, ou parce qu’ils sont gais. C’est également le cas de plus des deux tiers des élèves LGBQ. …

  8. Bullying of lesbian and gay youth: a qualitative investigation

    The preponderance of bullying research does not address sexual orientation as a possible factor. The purpose of this study was to explore the perspectives of service providers and youth advocates working with lesbian and gay communities in order to increase understanding of bullying of lesbian and gay youth. In depth, semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine key informants from various education and social service settings. Interviews were recorded and transcribed verbatim.   10. Who, what, where, when, and why: demographic and ecological factors contributing to hostile school climate for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth

    This study examines how locational (region and local), community-level (school district poverty and adult educational attainment), and school district-level (district size and ratios of students to key school personnel) variables are related to indicators of hostile school climate for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth. Indicators of hostile climate included frequency of homophobic remarks and victimization regarding sexual orientation and gender expression. …

    During the past ten years, attention on bullying has intensified among educators, parents, journalists, and educational researchers in the wake of high-profile incidents of bullying in some Canadian schools. Safe schools policies and programs have proliferated as a result. However, the issue of homophobia - a pervasive form of bullying - tends to be absent from public discussion, anti-bullying programs, and so-called safe schools policies.
