  3. Developing District-Level Early Warning and Decision Support Systems to Assist in Managing and Mitigating the Impact of HIV/AIDS on Education (DEMMIS)

    This paper, presented at the Barcelona International AIDS Conference in 2002, details a pilot project for DEMMIS in districts of KwaZulu Natal province. The pilot project, or district-level Education Management & Monitoring Information System (DEMMIS), was developed to answer the need for regular HIV/AIDS sensitive data gathering systems.The data are captured at month-end in the school and sent to the district office for inclusion in an ACCESS database.The results of this project are presented here.
