For example it not only reduces the stock of human capital but also the capacity to maintain the required turnover of many sought after skills and trainining like engineers, doctors, teachers, artisans and others. In the educational sphere, it leads to among other things a decrease in potential clientele for education, resources and even donor support. This analysis has been carried out in preparation for a conference of the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA). The purpose of the analysis is to provide a coherent and comprehensive picture of the outcomes of meetings on HIV/AIDS and education in Africa held over the period December 1999 - June 2001. A total of 171 such meetings were identified for analytical purposes and have been analyzed in this document.
