Indigenous girls in rural areas live in the most extreme poverty and make up the least educated groups in Peru. These girls face numerous constraints to obtaining an education. Enrollment rates are lower for girls in rural areas, and their grade repetition rates are higher than those for boys. It highlights the trade-offs associated with alternative school feeding models and analyzes the overarching themes, trends and challenges which run across them.
This toolkit offers resources and suggest practical steps to take and share to better connect health and education services. State and local stakeholders are encouraged to use these materials to explore high-impact opportunities to: - Increase access to health insurance to promote better academic outcomes; - Create school environments with the physical and mental health supports to help students succeed academically and lead healthy lives; and - Strengthen coordination and collaboration between health and education systems at the local and state levels.

The booklet is intended to be an easy-to-use education and reference tool for Guyana's education sector – both formal and informal, and public and private. Its simplified content will allow for easier assimilation of the policy, and, consequently, greater understanding of individual, institutional and organizational rights and obligations.
The overall objectives of this rapid survey undertaken by EduCan in early 2008 are to inform the development of both regional and national level education sector policies and strategies on school health, nutrition and HIV in the Caribbean region. The survey also aims to describe the current situation of education sector response to school health, nutrition, HIV and stigma, and to provide a baseline for monitoring progress. It also aims to provide data on the allocation and mobilization of resources used in such education sector responses across the region.
