    The Conference on HIV/AIDS and the education sector - the Education Coalition against HIV/AIDS- was held from 31 May to 1 June 2002. The Conference was held in recognition of the fact that the education sector is under siege from HIV and AIDS and the impact on learning institutions and sub-sectors can no longer be ignored. It was agreed that there is an urgent need to place education's response at the centre of the national response to the epidemic.
