    MSM and transgender people requires addressing self-issues and the linkages with HIV vulnerability and risk behavior. Yet to date, many HIV-related programs in Asia have failed to address self-stigma. To better understand how self-stigma relates to HIV, YVC undertook an in-person consultation in October 2012 in Bangkok, Thailand, and commissioned in-country research in 10 countries: Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam. …

  4. The impact of homophobic and transphobic bullying on education and employment: Advocacy recommendations

    In 2013, IGLYO commissioned research that examined the experiences of homophobic and transphobic bullying within the educational context and its impact on employment and future career. An online survey targeted respondents in Croatia, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, and Poland. The final results were drawn out of 187 survey responses, as well as a substantial number of complementary research reports.

    The Code’s primary objective is to set out guidelines for employers and trade unions to implement so as to ensure individuals with HIV infection are not unfairly discriminated against in the workplace. This includes provisions regarding: creating a non-discriminatory work environment; dealing with HIV testing, confidentiality and disclosure; providing equitable employee benefits; dealing with dismissals; and managing grievance procedures.

It provides the first large-scale regional comparison of standardized human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-related stigma indicators.     This recommandation is a response to the fact that HIV and AIDS have a serious impact on society and economies, on the world of work in both the formal and informal sectors, on workers, their families and dependants, on the employers' and workers' organizations and on public and private enterprises, and undermine the attainment of decent work and sustainable development.
