It reflects the author’s experiences with the outcomes of efforts to introduce sexuality education in Croatia, followed by a brief history of events related to the recent introduction of sexuality education in Croatian primary and secondary schools.

    La sexualité et les relations intimes et affectives forment une découverte et un apprentissage qui, à tous les âges de la vie, mais plus particulièrement chez les jeunes, soulèvent de nombreuses questions et besoins. Compte-tenu des enjeux posés en matière de citoyenneté, d’égalité femmes-hommes et de santé, il est de la responsabilité des pouvoirs publics de répondre à tou.te.s les jeunes par des informations objectives, sans jugement ni stéréotype, et, lorsqu’elles ou ils en expriment le besoin, de leur apporter l’accompagnement nécessaire.

  5. Gender and Sexuality/HIV Education

    Sex/HIV education curricula have disparate effects for females and males. Review of 59 rigorous sex ed evaluations from the U.S. and developing countries. After omitting single sex programs, programs with no effect, and programs that changed only knowledge, 38 remained (25 U.S. and 13 developing country). A third of these failed to disaggregate results by gender, leaving 25. This article looks at why this is the case and how gender affects SRH outcomes.

    In Macedonia there is a need for introducing sexuality education in schools. This finding is a result of a research determining the needs of the parents, teachers and students, and reviewing the current school curricula. Both parents and teachers agree on the introduction of sexuality education as a regular subject in schools. Such subject, among others, must develop the practical skills for protection from risks related to sexual activity. …

  8. Parents' approaches to educating their pre-adolescent and adolescent children about sexuality

    The report revealed that younger children often approached parents with questions but that parents were reluctant to discuss sexual matters with them for fear of compromising their innocence. According to the report, while parents didn't always respond fully to questions from their younger children, they reported attempting to raise sexual issues with their teenage children. However, such attempts were often blocked by the young people, who were reluctant to talk about the topic. …

    This resource is part of IPPF's Inspire pack, which offers standards, guidelines and self-assessment guidance on a variety of strategies and activities that contribute to rights-based and comprehensive sexual and reproductive health programming for young people.   10. Young men as equal partners (YMEP)

    This publication provides "knowledge, values and understanding of issues on sexuality to boys and young men". It centres on the deconstruction of gender stereotypes that lead to lack of communication and risk behaviour, and advocates a positive view of sexuality to empower individuals to make healthy, respectful and responsible choices.     This toolkit translates useful academic models, evidence, theories and other information into a practical 'cookbook', providing many tips, experiences and tools that have been used in projects in Africa and Asia. These projects are aimed at the design, implementation and evaluation of sexuality education programmes for young people. The toolkit uses the intervention mapping model as a framework that helps planners to systematically design health programmes and encourages them to take evidence-based decisions. …
