The objective of this policy is to ensure that all OVC of school-going age attend school and are not deterred from full participation through lack of financial means, material or psychosocial need, stigma, discrimination or any other constraints, and to ensure that out-of school OVC are brought back into school or provided with appropriate alternative educational opportunities.

  5. Policy in national management of HIV and AIDS at the Ministry of Education Fiji schools

    The purpose of this policy is to provide a framework to guide the Ministry of Education, National Heritage, Culture and Arts, Fiji schools to ensure the effective prevention of HIV and AIDS and the appropriate care, treatment of students and school personnel living with HIV and AIDS. It is to also ensure the provision of a systematic and consistent information and educational material on HIV and AIDS throughout the educational system.

  6. Education sector response to HIV and AIDS: assessment on responses of higher education institutions to HIV/AIDS and gender in Ethiopia

    This assessment is based on an institution-based cross-sectional survey conducted with the main objective of assessing the current status of HIV/AIDS and gender responses of higher education institutions in Ethiopia. En un estudio realizado y publicado en diciembre de 2008, se reveló una baja prevalencia nacional, concentrada en los grupos más vulnerables.   13. What Can We Do to Make a Difference?: Situation Analysis Concerning Children and Families Affected by Aids

    This article discusses the importance of situation analysis in the process of formulating interventions for children and families affected by HIV/AIDS. The argument is that for interventions to be effective and resources to be well used, it is essential that interventions are developed with a clear understanding of the factors which are most significant and how they relate to each other in causing or mitigating problems. It is well argued how situation analysis and ongoing monitoring are essental to planning and implementing effective interventions.
