    In this paper we argue that education policy on HIV and AIDS is policy about life. As such, the contexts and the realities of teachers and learners in the classroom need to be embedded in the policy. We make a case that HIV and AIDS policy needs to extend beyond the prevention mode to one that includes care and support in the policy context. Through the stories of three HIV positive teachers in Zimbabwean primary schools, we show the real people and the real bodies that inhabit the classrooms where policy seeks to find expression. …

    The purpose of the Situation Analysis of Children and Women in Zimbabwe is to consider the situation facing children and women in 2010 and analyse how this affects the realisation of their rights. This Situation Analysis takes into account statistical trends, policies and budgets relating to the rights and welfare of girls, boys and women. While the report provides a brief review of the historical background, its primary focus is an analysis of the present situation with a view to assessing the future prospects for supporting children and women's rights.

    This report focuses on the experiences of Save the Children in monitoring, implementing and reviewing NPAs in Angola, Ethiopia, South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, Uganda and Zimbabwe. Each of the country offices commissioned the documentation of case studies to identify promising practices and challenges around effective implementation of NPAs.   4. Situational analysis of orphaned and vulnerable children in eight Zimbabwean districts

    In response to the AIDS epidemic and poverty, the Zimbabwean government and other organisations are implementing various programmes aimed at assisting orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in the eight districts surveyed. It is clearly important to have an audit of the social services and support structures available for OVC in the eight districts and to have a clear understanding of the situation of OVC including their needs and concerns in order to have proper prioritisation, designing and evaluation of programmes that are aimed at supporting the affected children.

    In 2005, an estimated 48 million children aged 0-18 years, that is to say 12 percent of all children in sub-Saharan Africa, were orphans, and that number is expected to rise to 53 million by 2010. One quarter of all orphans are orphaned because of AIDS, and about 2.6 million children are currently infected with HIV.   9. Demand for and Cost-effectiveness of Integrating RTI/HIV Services with Clinic-based Family Planning Services in Zimbabwe

    This report is based on findings from a study that was undertaken by the Africa OR/TA II Project and the Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council (ZNFPC) to assist the ZNFPC obtain information that would enable it to develop the most appropriate and cost-effective approach to managing RTIs in its clinics. The study used a number of methods to collect and synthesise information to facilitate this goal beginning with a baseline survey that led to a variety of activities being undertaken to strengthen the ZNFPC clinic-based services. …
