    Belize ranks first in terms of per capita population for HIV/AIDS incidence in Central America. It is 4th in the Caribbean, and 34th globally. The first AIDS case was reported in 1986. In Belize, there has been rapid growth of the epidemic in the 19 years since the first case was confirmed.   5. Interim strategic plan for multi-sectoral for HIV response in Ethiopia (2009-2010/11)

    This Interim SPM covers only the period 2009-2010 in order to create opportunities to align strategies with other major sector (HSDP) and development (PASDEP) plans which also end in 2010. During the interim period, multi-sectoral actors at all levels working on HIV issues are expected to develop and implement their respective plans based on this SPM. During the Interim period a number of structural changes within the sector will be given chance to settle. A number of planned national surveys will also provide more accurate information to develop a five-year plan.

    In Zambia, HIV/AIDS has also become increasingly wide spread with an estimated adult HIV prevalence of 16 per cent. The peak ages for HIV among females is 25 to 34 years while that for males is 35 to 39 years. Young women aged 15 to 19 are five times more likely to be infected compared to males in the same age group.   10. Youth in the Philippines : a review of the youth situation and national policies and programmes

    The monograph contains six chapters: youth development; youth education; youth health; youth employment; youth participation; and conclusions and recommendations. The first chapter on youth development provides an overview of youth participation in national development followed by a review of the national youth policy and programmes. Each of the three chapters on education, health and employment begin with an analysis of policy and followed by a quantitative and a qualitative analysis on youth issues in the relevant area.
