    The purpose of this Strategic Plan is to be a framework for: - identifying medium-term, coherent and cohesive, cost-effective plans for shaping the response to HIV/AIDS and STIs; - the preparation of annual operational plans for implementation; - identification of resource needs, and gaps in available resources, both human and financial; - formulating requests for assistance, that match donors' priorities and mandates, but also fit with the needs and priorities of the Government of Cambodia; - coordination of activities, plans, strategies and resources of all kinds from all sources.

  6. A multi-level model of condom use among male and female upper primary school students in Nyanza, Kenya

    Although several studies have emphasized the relevance of community level variables to AIDS prevention among young people in sub-Saharan Africa, few have tested the empirical connections between such variables and sexual behaviors. Using data from 3645 sexually experienced grade 6 and 7 students from 160 schools, this study applies hierarchical linear models to estimate the effects of individual and community level variables on condom use among youth in Nyanza Province, Kenya.     Le présent rapport met en évidence les apports de l'OMS à l'accès universel en 2008 et 2009. Il décrit la façon dont l'OMS travaille et identifie des réalisations spécifiques dans chacun des cinq domaines stratégiques suivants : 1) permettre aux patients de connaitre leur statu sérologique ; 2) maximiser la contribution du secteur de la santé à la prévention du VIH ; 3) accélérer l'extension du traitement et des soins en matière de VIH ; 4) renforcer et étendre les systèmes de santé ; et 5) investir dans l'information stratégique pour tenter de mieux étayer la riposte au VIH.

    This report summarizes HIV prevalence and the associations between HIV serostatus and key characteristics and behaviors of adult women and men in 22 developing countries, primarily in sub- Saharan Africa. Data come from Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) and AIDS Indicator Surveys (AIS) conducted between 2001 and 2006. In most of these surveys, nationally representative samples of women age 15-49 and men age 15-59 were tested for HIV. …

    This document has been designed to clarify a number of policies and, equally important, principal strategies which are necessary to address the national problem with STDs. It is also designed to assure that the national approach to STDs serve as an effective and complementary component of national programs against HIV/AIDS.

  10. Setting priorities for research, analysis and information dissemination on HIV/AIDS, STIs, and Tuberculosis in Africa

    This strategic framework highlights the areas in which knowledge gaps and research information needs exist in Africa's fight against the HIV/AIDS pandemic. It seeks to prioritize these needs so as to optimize the use of research funds in the development of higher impact interventions, effective service delivery systems and better monitoring and evaluation.
