  2. A voucher for health: enabling young people in Uganda to access quality sexual and reproductive health services

    Young people in Uganda have significant unmet sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs. This is particularly the case for young people from key populations. The prevalence of HIV among sex workers of all ages is between 35% and 37%, five times higher than the general population. Sex workers also face other serious sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) issues, including high rates of unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).   3. What they really want to know. Developing booklets for young people on growing up and sexuality

    A large proportion of young people worldwide are sexually active, and this exposes them to the risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, and to the risk of unintended pregnancies. In 2008, 16 million girls aged 15 to 19 gave birth and approximately 40% of these pregnancies were unintended.     This plan provides a framework for improving the sexual reproductive health of young people, and protecting them from HIV. The plan consists of five sections: background, policy and programming, goals and guiding principles, institutional framework and monitoring and evaluation.
