    Red Ribbon is a booklet which is part of the pilot project "Engaging Young People to Prevent the Spread of HIV" implemented by the NGO SPACE (Society for People's Awareness, Care and Empowerment) and supported by UNESCO, New Delhi. In 2007, this project is already operational in 10 colleges of Delhi University and aims to enhance knowledge and skills of young people so that they are empowered to respond effectively to the challenges posed by HIV and AIDS. The booklet aims to address the questions, misconceptions and myths prevalent among educated youth about HIV and AIDS and related issues. …

  5. Survey assessment of Vietnamese youth

    This survey known as SAVY, which stands for Survey Assessment of Vietnamese Youth, was carried out by the Ministry of Health (MoH), the General Statistics Office (GSO), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations ChildrenÆs Fund (UNICEF). Nearly 7600 participants from 42 provinces across the country including males and females, married and unmarried, Kinh and ethnic minority. This national survey, the first of its kind in Viet Nam, represents an important collaborative partnership between many Government and international agencies and young people. …

  6. Prevention of HIV/AIDS among migrant workers in Thailand (PHAMIT) : the baseline survey 2004

    The Baseline Survey 2004 was carried out as a part of the evaluation and monitoring of the Prevention of HIV/AIDS among Migrant Workers in Thailand (PHAMIT) project. It has provided a comprehensive overview of migrant populations and their related circumstances and behaviour. This survey was conducted during April-June 2004, and covered 3,426 male and female migrant workers from Myanmar, Cambodia and Lao People's Democratic Republic. Among other things, the survey finds that the prevalence of casual sexual relationship is very high among migrants. …

  7. Actions that protect: promoting sexual and reproductive health and choice among young people in India

    This paper synthesises the evidence on the sexual and reproductive health situation of young people in India, and explores what we know about underlying factors that place them at risk of or protect them from unsafe and unwanted sexual and reproductive health experiences. The picture that emerges suggests that substantial proportions of young people experience risky or unwanted sexual activity, do not receive prompt or appropriate care, and experience adverse reproductive health outcomes. …

  13. A survey of teenagers in Nepal for life skills development and HIV/AIDS prevention

    The report summarizes the findings from a survey carried out by the Media Services International (MSI) on behalf of UNICEF Nepal. A total of 1400 teenagers randomly selected from across Nepal's five development regions were interviewed and their answers analyzed. Questions were asked to ascertain teenagers' abilities to cope with daily issues and changes experienced in adolescence.
