    A tool designed to encourage the incorporation of gender-based roles and responsibilities in the design, implementation, and evaluation of health communication programmes. The guide provides keys questions to help programme managers determine how gender roles for both women and men, may impede access to health information, restrict use of health services, or limit beneficial health outcomes. By identifying this information, health communication programmes can encourage individuals and communities to pay attention to resolving gender inequities.

    The LRHS 2000, funded by UNFPA was undertaken with the purpose of providing up-to-date information on fertility levels, determinants of fertility, fertility preferences, family planning, infant and child mortality, reproductive health and child health, including breastfeeding, and knowledge of RTIs/STDs and HIV/AIDS.     The State of Maharashtra has initiated AIDS education in public and private schools through three pilot projects. This document is based on these school-based AIDS education programmes for which the effectiveness in terms of increased awareness amongst the students has been evaluated by external agencies. This document describes three models of HIV/AIDS preventive education programmes, each of which has been tested for efficacy and its relevance to the Indian milieu.
