    The 2014 Kenya Demographic and Health Survey (KDHS) is a national sample survey that targeted 40,300 households designed to provide detailed information on aspects of health across Kenya and in each of the 47 counties. The KDHS is conducted every five years.     In 1994, delegations assembled in Cairo from 179 member states and from thousands of NGOs for the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD). Member states negotiated a 20-year action plan to develop a “new era of population” by 2015. The ICPD Programme of Action (also known as the Cairo Consensus) placed the individual needs and rights of men and, especially, women as the single most important factor for governments in determining population and development policies and strategies.   3. Review and appraisal of the progress made in achieving the goals and objectives of the programme of action of the International Conference on Population and Development: the 2004 report

    This report is based on the 2nd quinquennial review and appraisal for the thirty-seventh session of the commission in 2004. It is divided into an introduction and seven chapters. The first two sections provide an overview of population levels and trends, and population growth, structure and distribution in the world and its major regions. These are followed by four sections focusing on clusters of issues: reproductive health and rights and mortality, international migration and population programmes. The final section summarizes the major conclusion of the report.
