    This study essentially aimed to establish if there is a peer education programme at Mnambithi TVET College focusing on SRH and HIV prevention and whether the services rendered are adolescent and youth friendly. It therefore investigated the status of these two factors, identified gaps and proposed solutions. The report begins with a brief discussion of what the study was about, how it was conceptualised and what it aimed to achieve.   2. Empowering each other: young people who sell sex in Ethiopia

    Sex workers are amongst those most affected by HIV and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) issues in Ethiopia. Stigma and discrimination towards sex workers affects their ability to access SRHR information, education and services. In 2014, the Link Up project in Ethiopia implemented a model of peer education and outreach to empower young people who sell sex (aged 15 – 24 years) and increase their access to HIV and SRHR services. The Link Up project seeks to improve the sexual and reproductive health and rights of young people most affected by HIV. …

  3. Effects of peer education intervention on HIV/AIDS related sexual behaviors of secondary school students in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: a quasi-experimental study

    Background: Worldwide, about 50 % of all new cases of HIV occur in youth between age 15 and 24 years. Studies in various sub-Saharan African countries show that both out of school and in school adolescents and youth are engaged in risky sexual behaviors. School-based health education has been a cornerstone of youth-focused HIV prevention efforts since the early 1990s.     A study conducted in KwaZulu Natal suggests that utilizing trained youth caregivers is a feasible approach for reaching orphans and vulnerable children with HIV prevention education and support.   14. Baseline and Impact Survey of NYSC Peer Education Programme for Schools in 7 Pilot States

    As part of the on-going actvity by UNICEF to reduce the alarming rate of HIV/AIDS spread in Nigeria, UNICEF partnered with the NYSC Directorate and the Association for Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH) to train 1 382 Youth Corps members in 7 pilot states in Nigeria. The states are Borno, Enugu, Rivers, Cross River, Kaduna, Nasarawa and Ondo.
