  3. Guidance brief: HIV interventions for young people in humanitarian emergencies

    This Brief has been developed by the Inter-Agency Task Team (IATT) on HIV and Young People to assist United Nations Country Teams (UNCT) and UN Theme Groups on HIV/AIDS in providing guidance to their staffs, governments, development partners, civil society and other implementing partners on effective HIV interventions for young people in humanitarian emergencies. It is part of a series of seven global Guidance Briefs that focus on HIV prevention, treatment, care and support interventions for young people that can be delivered through different settings for a range of target groups.

  4. Tri-Country HIV/AIDS and Refugees Workshop: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda

    A tri-country HIV/AIDS and Refugees workshop was organised by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from 10-13 December 2002. The objectives of the workshop were to improve the quality and to standardise the various HIV/AIDS programs implemented in the refugee camps in the three countries as well as to plan for 2003.   5. HIV/AIDS Education for Refugee Youth: the window of hope

    This paper has been written to meet the need for guidance, expressed by our field colleagues in Africa, on how to introduce and implement HIV/AIDS education in our refugee programmes targeting youth. It is addressed to humanitarian workers in refugee settings, especially UNHCR Community Service Officers, education personnel and the staff of implementing partners working on education related issues. We hope that it will provide you with some ideas and practical inputs on how you can approach the issue of HIV/AIDS in formal and non-formal refugee education programmes.
