    The debate of delivering HIV and AIDS education within schools is a sensitive topic that often elicits strong feelings from parents, teachers and school administrators. Shrouded in misconceptions that teaching HIV and AIDS education promotes premature sexual debut, many schools shy away from covering HIV and AIDS lessons except for in the context of biological health or natural science class.     This is the report of a National Consultative Forum with Religious Leaders on the Education Sector Response to Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Kaduna, Nigeria. The need for a National Consultative Forum arose since there was continuous resistance to the content of the Family Life HIV/AIDS Education curricula in Nigeria.     This is the final report of a Regional Seminar on Education and AIDS in Educational Systems for French-Speaking countries in Africa that was convened in Dakar, Senegal, from 21-25 April 1997. The meeting was concerned with mobilising educational systems in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Youth before the first sexual intercourse were identified as a priority target for preventive education at school. The report is expected to guide in the formulation of action and follow-up plans that can quickly be implemented in the various countries.
